Ruralocity is a conveniently available domain name and mostly ubiquitous user handle for for me, Aaron Sumner. I'm the Director of Technology for Research and Development at the University of Kansas Center for Research on Learning. There I'm the chief architect behind Stratepedia and a general pusher of technological change.
I'm trying to do my part for the Ruby community through two initiatives: Everyday Rails is a blog for people who may not be Ruby experts but still need to get things done with Rails. EduRuby is a community for Ruby enthusiasts who happen to work in educational arenas.
I've lived in Illinois, Kansas, Seattle, and Kansas (again). I have degrees in journalism and instructional design from the University of Kansas and Emporia State University, respectively. I blog at my eponymous domain and the Stratepedia Blog, share occasional photos on Flickr, rarely make a peep on Facebook, and speak way too much on Twitter. I also share Sound Refound, my collection of concert flyers (mostly from Lawrence and Seattle) with anyone who cares to see them. Thanks for stopping by.
